I think I violated my own first rule when I said Vander and Druscilla
should break from the group. Let's not split up... ever (Dan forget I
ever said that). I say we go outside of town to meet Vaner's contact
together, perhaps just before we go to the mines for more black oil.
Inside the 3 days we have to wait for Vander's contact we should meet
Mento's contact and do a few other things (read quest list below).
Also, Since 5 days have passed the Druid should need one more day
before she can teach the bear another trick. She has also scribed all
the scrolls we were talking about for a total cost of 300XP. Since we
can share this cost by giving the Druid blood (not standard rules but
Dan and I talked a while ago), I will give 150XP from Walfsdog, and
Jess will give 50XP from the Druscillia. Anyone want to throw in
100XP to cap it off? I would suggest we take it from someone who
doesn't need it as bad. That is, Vander should not donate any XP
because he is so far behind.
Since something is creeping around our crypt we should have the Druid
make a better door. Druscilla can shape stone with the 'Shape Stone'
spell (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/stoneShape.htm). This
requires some clay, but she also has the 'Soften Earth and Stone'
spell (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/softenEarthAndStone.htm). If
we just grab some rocks, or find a natural large rock, we can make the
clay and then use it to shape the door. We can use some of the rocks
inside the crypt and any we find around. I think we should make a
door with a bit of security through obscurity and magic as the key.
That is, as long as no one sees us using it, we should be okay. Here
is how the outside of the door will look:
http://www.jimmcq.com/dnd/index.php?title=Image:Crypt_door_external.jpg
and here is how the inside of the door will look (when I say inside, I
mean of the door not the crypt):
http://www.jimmcq.com/dnd/index.php?title=Image:Crypt_door_internal.jpg
The basic idea is that any one of our casters that can cast 'Create
Water' should be able to cast it once for the left cylinder and once
for the right. The water in both cylinders will slowly drain through
the sieve in the bottom of each cylinder. The initial extra weight of
the water will raise the door for us, and then slowly close it behind
us as the water drains down the empty space and out the hole in the
bottom of the door. The door and counter weights are held together
with a rope and stone roller system, which will wear over time. If
someone can shape a metal cable that would hold the stone better over
the years, that would be great. Since the stone rollers at the top
are moving parts we have a 30% chance to fail when making the door.
Perhaps Giffal would like to add a trap next to the water outlet hole
so that anyone who broke the door would trigger a trap. It's up to
you Giffal. Dan, I was thinking that we can have Druscilla roll a d20
with 1-6 as a failure, and the rest a success. Let me know if this
sounds good and we will have her roll. Oh, one last thing, the
external view of the door will blend well with the crypt. We will
also cover the door with vines so that it's more difficult to find.
====================
Here is an adjustment to our quest list:
1. We can have everyone piss in a bucket to make the saltpeter, and
cook it in the crypt's room with the chimney under a slow flame to
refine it. The druid can use this time to make that door above.
2. Buy healing potions from the temple and have Erick donate his 50g.
3. Meet Mento's contact and ask a few questions. We now know that
the 2nd moon, Rydia, is going to increase lycanthrope activity. We
need to find a calendar and moon cycle chart. (I am winking at Dan)
Also, can we find out information on lycanthrope afflictions? What
happens if we're bit?
4. In three more days we are going to meet the necromancer contact
outside of town with Vander. We will do this just before we head to
the dwarven mines.
5. We will now need to venture to the dwarven mines to get more
black oil. While we are there we may be able to spank an ogre or two
in return for getting some mithril weapons or whatnot to kill the
lycanthropes.
6. Go after the rats and the plague, but try to do all of this fast
so that we can play with pirates.

FOR DAN:
* Fenreer found a list of recipes to make stuff that will be posted
later (DONE). He still needs the recipes.
* Let us know if the druid should roll for the door as discussed above.
* Try to get me the moon cycles and calendar data so I can add it to
that code we found.
====================
Cheers,
Chris
P.S. We will need to update the wiki before next game to get all of
this stuff down.
